Upon solving this puzzle, I was really annoyed that my solution was rejected. I had the right word, but I put it in backwards since I felt that this was necessary when the titles on the books were facing the way they were. Probably you should accept the word backwards as well... -

I have just looked at the puzzle and I understand what you are saying. Based on the way the titles of the books are layed out, in the traditional style they would be upside down. However, it was designed this way to simplify the puzzle slightly.
In order to solve the puzzle you would need to place them in order reading from left to right in the normal style.
