Episode 1 won't work

    Hi,

As the game description sounded fun and the price was faire, I've bought the first episode yesterday, but after installing, when I've launched the game, the TV showed a notice 'no video signal' and the PS3 was completely frozen. Only a reboot (by pressing the power sensor in front of the console because it wasn't reacting at pad inputs) would make it work. Every time I try to launch the game, this happens.

Some things that might help figure out the problem:
    - I'm connected to the playstation network from Switzerland
    - PS3 is from the 'old' generation; the big one
    - I've only downloaded Episode 1
    - Once the game is installed, the background picture changes and music plays when having the game selected
    - The download was 450MB
    - I've downloaded/installed the game twice
    - Once the PS3 is frozen the disk activity led stays dark (no disk activity)

Thanks for helping solve the first riddle

    Hi,
A couple of questions for you.
When you first started the game did it ask you if you wanted to download a patch?

    - If you go to 'Display Settings' in the cross media bar.
    - Then 'Video Output Settings'
    - Select your connection type
    - Then select 'Custom'
    - Can you tell me what screen resolutions are ticked?
N.B. Blue Toad will only display in 720p or 576p.

    Cheers

    Hi James,

Thanks for your response, I'm going to check this when I'm back home.
I must admit I've found hints for the resolution issue in other posts but couldn't figure out where to set this property. As I've got a full HD TV chances are good that 1080 is set (if this choice is even possible!?).
Concerning the patch, no it didn't ask me to install one. Can I manually trigger an update somehow?

Anyway, I'll get back to you when I figured out your other points (and maybe made the game work)

    Hey Philppe,

Just in addition to what James has said, if the patch for some reason has not triggered I would advise that you delete the game from your hard drive and re-install it. This will not cost you as your PSN account will remember your original purchase. The patch should automatically prompt you to install it.
If you have trouble changing the settings on your console just post again on the forum and we will give you as step by step guide on how to do it.
Hope this all helps and you are playing Blue Toad soon!

    Cheers
    Terry

After digging through tzhe ps3 menu I've found the checkboxes I was looking for. Only the 576 and 1080p resolutions were checked. After additionally checking the 720p one and starting the game, it downloaded the patch (froze after applying at restart and had to reboot the ps3, but that's not a big hassle). Since then I've finished the first three episodes :)
Thanks for helping out! Wouldn't it be possible to have an error message displayed telling what the cause of the problem is? Having a frozen ps never gives a good feeling

    Cheers, Philippe
